We’re excited to bring the Napa Valley Community Housing blog back to life!

We have some catching up to do. New homes have opened, our scholars have celebrated their next steps, and residents have gathered for programs across our communities. Here are a few highlights from our recent newsletters and around Napa County.

Looking back at Affordable Housing Month

During May, we shared a series on social media about what affordable housing means, who it serves, and what it takes to create more of it. We also looked at preserving existing homes and how home sharing can help people find an affordable place to live. These are conversations we’ll keep having here on the blog. Read our Affordable Housing Month recap.

On March 12, NVCH and Our Town St. Helena celebrated the opening of Gamble Grove on Pope Street. The project brings 10 affordable rental homes to St. Helena after years of planning and work with local partners. We’re grateful to everyone who helped make these homes possible. Our fifth annual Rising Star Scholarship Awards brought families and supporters to Napa Valley College on May 12 to honor 10 scholars from NVCH communities. Congratulations again to our students, and thank you to the people who have supported them along the way. Read about the celebration or browse the event photos.

Practical support at home

Our fall newsletter featured a fire safety and emergency preparedness session for senior residents with John Williams and Red Cross volunteers. Residents learned ways to prevent fires and stay safe at home. We look forward to sharing more of these everyday moments from our communities. Catch up on our fall newsletter.

Good housing news from Napa County

In August, Napa County announced national recognition for its Farmworker Housing Centers program. The County’s three centers connect housing with services such as health care and English classes. It’s a local story we’re glad to share. Read the County’s announcement.

Thanks for being part of NVCH. Whether you’re a resident, a neighbor or a longtime supporter, we’re glad you’re here. Watch this space for more community stories and ways to get involved.
