A Night to Remember: Celebrating Our 2025 Rising Star Scholars
Napa Valley Community Housing (NVCH) proudly celebrated the fourth annual Rising Star Scholarship Awards on May 13, 2025, at Napa Valley College—an inspiring evening filled with community, gratitude, and hope for the future.
We honored ten extraordinary students—each on a path toward careers in nursing, immigration law, veterinary medicine, environmental architecture, psychology, entrepreneurship, and more. This year’s class included both first-time and returning Rising Star Scholars, and we’re proud to be part of their continued journey.
✨ Our scholars were joined by their VIPs—Very Important People/Parents—whose unwavering support has made these achievements possible. From rearranged work schedules to late-night encouragement, these VIPs were celebrated for their dedication and love.
🎤 The evening’s keynote was delivered by Cinthya Cisneros, owner of La Cheve Bakery & Brews, who shared her powerful story of resilience, entrepreneurship, and honoring her roots. Her heartfelt message encouraged our scholars to embrace their identities, dream boldly, and lead with purpose.
We’re deeply grateful to everyone who helped make this evening a success—from our staff and volunteers to our donors, sponsors, and community partners.

Rising Star Scholars
at our May 2024 event held at
Napa Valley College.
This year we celebrated the third year of our Rising Star event when we gathered on May 14, 2024, to recognize and celebrate ten wonderful and ambitious scholars and their respective VIP’s – Very Important People/Parents.
This year’s class included new and repeat Rising Star scholars and we’re delighted to be a small part of all our scholars’ educational journeys. Our scholars are pursuing continuing educations in nursing, criminal justice, immigration law, environmental architecture, criminology & psychology, marketing/entrepreneurship, x-ray technology, law school, veterinary school, physician assistant, and clinical psychology.
Our VIP Awards went to all the parents and people of our 2024 Rising Star Scholars. We acknowledged the immense responsibility and challenges the VIP’s faced including juggling multiple demands and making significant sacrifices from adjusting work schedules to creating a conducive environment at home. Their patience, energy, and unwavering dedication has not gone unnoticed as they have gone above and beyond, acting as superheroes in ensuring that our Rising Star Scholars had the necessary support and resources to flourish.
Vice Mayor Bernie Narvaez delivered the keynote address beautifully in Spanish for the VIPs and English for the rest of the audience. He shared his family’s immigration story, his impressive life journey serving in the US military, starting his own business with his father, running for elected office and the challenges of managing family schedules while raising three young energetic children. He encouraged the scholars to pursue their dreams and to not let anyone get in their way.
